Privacy policy

This policy explains what we do with the information you give us, in plain words. The Floor Guys is the trading name of FLOORPLAY LLC, a flooring business in Metro Detroit, Michigan. We are not a large company and we do not have a data department; the person who installs your floor is the person who reads your enquiry.

What we collect, and only when you give it

When you fill in the estimate form we ask for, and store:

• Your first and last name, so we know who we are speaking to
• Your address, so we know where to come and measure
• Your phone number, so we can call you back
• Whether you ticked the optional box asking us to text you about your estimate, and when

That is the whole form. We never ask for payment details through this website, and we do not ask for anything we do not need in order to give you an estimate.

What we collect automatically

Our host records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visited, which is ordinary for any website and is used to keep the site working and secure. We also set one first-party cookie so we can tell which page or ad brought you to us when you ask for an estimate.

If you reach us from one of our Google ads, Google's measurement tag notes that you asked for an estimate or tapped to call, so we can tell which ads are worth paying for. We have turned off its use for ad personalization, so it is not used to show you ads elsewhere.

What we use it for

One thing: arranging and following up your flooring estimate. We call you about your enquiry, or text you if you asked us to, we turn up to measure, and we send you a price. We do not run marketing campaigns to people who asked for an estimate, and we do not add you to a newsletter.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your information. Not to lead brokers, not to anyone.
• We do not share it with other contractors. Your enquiry is not passed around.
• We do not use it to advertise at you across the internet.

The only people who see it are the people preparing your estimate and the services we use to run the business, described next.

The services we rely on

Like most small businesses we use ordinary tools to operate, and your information passes through them for that purpose only. These currently include our website host, our database, our email provider, our phone and text message provider, Google Ads measurement, and the analytics we use to understand which pages are useful. Each is bound by its own terms and none is permitted to use your details for its own marketing.

If you ask about financing we will refer you to a financing partner, and you deal with them directly under their own terms and privacy policy. We do not make lending decisions.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become jobs are kept for up to two years, so that we can pick up where we left off if you come back to us. Records of completed work are kept longer, because a workmanship warranty is only useful if we can find the job it applies to. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will.

Your choices

You can, at any time and at no cost:

• Ask what we hold about you
• Ask us to correct it
• Ask us to delete it
• Tell us to stop contacting you

Email us and we will do it. We will not ask you why, and it will not affect any work we are already doing for you.

Texts and calls

If you give us your phone number we will call you about your estimate. We only text you if you ticked the optional box on the estimate form asking us to, and only about your own estimate. Message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, and replying STOP ends it. Reply HELP for help. The full details are on our text messages page.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party. We do not send bulk or promotional messages, and we do not buy or upload phone lists.

Children

This site is for people arranging work on a property. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change how any of this works, we change this page first and update the date at the top. We do not apply new uses to information collected under an older version.
